This study aimed to explore the potential application value of acupuncture in alleviating the impact of long COVID on women's menstrual cycles, by investigating the occurrence of long COVID among female college students, its effects on menstruation, and the intervention of acupuncture. This cross-sectional study surveyed female college students with a history of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) before April 10, 2023. A questionnaire was used to analyze demographic characteristics, post-COVID sequelaes, duration of symptoms, and treatments received during that period. Among the 731 participants enrolled in the survey, 468 were female undergraduate students who met the analysis criteria. Among them, 85 individuals fit the definition of "Long COVID" (18.16%). Within the group of patients with long COVID, 69 individuals experienced changes in their overall menstrual patterns compared to the 6 months prior to contracting the novel coronavirus (81.18%). Additionally, 17 individuals opted for acupuncture treatment following the onset of COVID-19 (20.00%), which resulted in less impact on their menstrual cycle (41.18% vs 64.71% without receiving acupuncture, OR = 2.62), menstrual period duration (41.18% vs 64.71%, OR = 2.62), menstrual flow (47.06% vs 69.18%, OR = 2.52), and the color of menstrual blood (41.18% vs 63.24%, OR = 2.46) among these patients. Long COVID had a certain impact on menstruation. Acupuncture potentially alleviates the clinical symptoms of long COVID and reduces its impact on women's menstrual cycle, thus having potential therapeutic value in the treatment of long COVID.

Previous research has demonstrated that stigma is strongly related to depressive symptoms among men who have sex with men (MSM). However, data are limited regarding the associations between stigma, state mindfulness, self-efficacy, and depression symptoms. The current study aimed to analyze state mindfulness and self-efficacy as possible mediators between internalized and perceived stigma and depression symptoms. A sample of 2610 Chinese MSM (Mage = 23.99, SD = 6.09, age range: 18-68 years) was recruited from an online survey platform and completed the HIV and Homosexuality Related Stigma Scale, Patient Health Questionnaire-9, the short version of Five Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire, and the Chinese General Self-Efficacy Scale. Results indicated that state mindfulness significantly mediated the linkage between internalized and perceived stigma and depressive symptoms, and self-efficacy significantly mediated the relation between state mindfulness and depression symptoms. Furthermore, internalized and perceived stigma were associated with depression symptoms through a serial mediation of state mindfulness and self-efficacy. This study highlights that state mindfulness and self-efficacy might play important roles in the psychological response of MSM to stigmatization and psychopathology symptoms.

Yiqi Tuomin Decoction (YTD), which originated from the theory of lung deficiency and cold in Chinese medicine, is a common Chinese herbal formula used against allergic rhinitis (AR). In our otolaryngology department, this prescription has been used to treat so many AR patients with lung-deficiency-related colds for nearly 30 years. However, the mechanism of its ingredient-target is still unclear. Based on our early experiments and clinical case studies, in this paper, we explore the mechanism of YTD systematically against AR using bioinformatic methods of network pharmacology and molecular docking. Methods: The Traditional Chinese Medicine Systems Pharmacology (TCMSP) database was used to screen the active ingredients and targets of YTD. The AR-related targets were retrieved from OMIM, GeneCards, TTD, DisGeNET, DrugBank databases, and PharmGKB. The Venn database was used to screen the potential core targets. After that, the STRING database was used to construct the protein-protein interaction (PPI) of the core targets and then visualize it by Cytoscape. The Gene Ontology (GO)-enriched processes and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathways of the core targets were analyzed by the KOBAS-I database and Sangerbox. Molecular docking was used to assess interactions between potential targets and active ingredients. Results: A total of 169 active ingredients and 238 targets of YTD were predicted. YTD shared 115 common targets with AR from the Venn database. The GO-enriched processes and KEGG pathways indicate that genes involved in inflammation and oxidative stress, accompanying the MAPK signaling pathway, Th17 cell differentiation, IL-17 signaling pathway, and Th1 and Th2 cell differentiation, may play a mediated effect in YTD. The docking results showed good binding ability between the active ingredients and the selected targets. Conclusions: Our study systematically indicated the underlying mechanism of YTD against AR from the perspective of bioinformatics. By studying the active ingredients of YTD, we obtained molecular mechanisms and established a reliable method and molecular theoretical basis for the sensible development of Chinese medicine in the treatment of AR.

Rationale: Resistance to 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) chemotherapy remains the main barrier to effective clinical outcomes for patients with colorectal cancer (CRC). A better understanding of the detailed mechanisms underlying 5-FU resistance is needed to increase survival. Interleukin (IL)-33 is a newly discovered alarmin-like molecule that exerts pro- and anti-tumorigenic effects in various cancers. However, the precise role of IL-33 in CRC progression, as well as in the development of 5-FU resistance, remains unclear. Methods: High-quality RNA-sequencing analyses were performed on matched samples from patients with 5-FU-sensitive and 5-FU-resistant CRC. The clinical and biological significance of IL-33, including its effects on both T cells and tumor cells, as well as its relationship with 5-FU chemotherapeutic activity were examined in ex vivo, in vitro and in vivo models of CRC. The molecular mechanisms underlying these processes were explored. Results: IL-33 expressed by tumor cells was a dominant mediator of antitumoral immunity in 5-FU-sensitive patients with CRC. By binding to its ST2 receptor, IL-33 triggered CD4+ (Th1 and Th2) and CD8+ T cell responses by activating annexin A1 downstream signaling cascades. Mechanistically, IL-33 enhanced the sensitivity of CRC cells to 5-FU only in the presence of T cells, which led to the activation of both tumor cell-intrinsic apoptotic and immune killing-related signals, thereby synergizing with 5-FU to induce apoptosis of CRC cells. Moreover, injured CRC cells released more IL-33 and the T cell chemokines CXCL10 and CXCL13, forming a positive feedback loop to further augment T cell responses. Conclusions: Our results identified a previously unrecognized connection between IL-33 and enhanced sensitivity to 5-FU. IL-33 created an immune-active tumor microenvironment by orchestrating antitumoral T cell responses. Thus, IL-33 is a potential predictive biomarker for 5-FU chemosensitivity and favorable prognosis and has potential as a promising adjuvant immunotherapy to improve the clinical benefits of 5-FU-based therapies in the treatment of CRC.

Background: The number of publications on acupuncture for cancer pain is increasing rapidly with an upward tendency. Considering that no bibliometric articles related to this topic have been published yet. It is necessary to evaluate the global scientific output of research in this field, and shed light on the direction of clinical cancer pain management in the future. Methods: Research publications regarding acupuncture on cancer pain from inception to 2022 were downloaded from the Web of Science Core Collection. Bibliometric analyses were performed using CiteSpace software, the bibliometrix R package, and VOSviewer software. Network maps were generated to assess the collaborations between different countries, institutions, authors, and keywords. And clusters map was generated to evaluate reference. Results: A total of 790 articles related to acupuncture therapy for cancer pain were identified. We observe that the number of publications is gradually increasing over time. China and the United States were the main contributors. Mem Sloan Kettering Canc Ctr (38 papers) and Beijing Univ Chinese Med (28 papers) contributed the most publications, becoming the leading contributors in this field. Although J Clin Oncol (28 articles) ranked ninth in terms of publication volume, it was the journal with the most citations and the highest number of IF (50.717) and H-index (494) at the same time. MAO J from Mem Sloan Kettering Canc Ctr was the most prolific author (23 articles). The main hot topics included matters related to acupuncture (239 times), pain (199 times), management (139 times), quality of life (107 times), electroacupuncture (100 times), and breast cancer (82 times). Conclusion: Our bibliometric analysis provides a comprehensive overview of the development of acupuncture for cancer pain, enabling relevant authors and research teams to identify the current research status in this field. At the same time, acupuncture for breast cancer (BC) pain, aromatase inhibitor-induced arthralgia (AIA), and chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) may soon become prospective focus.

Saiga antelope horn and Rhinoceros horn have been used in traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years. However, due to the protection of wildlife, the application of these rare animal horns has been restricted or prohibited. Therefore, water buffalo horn, goat horn, and yak horn have been applied as alternatives to Rhinoceros horn or Saiga antelope horn in a clinic. It is extremely difficult to distinguish normal animal horns in powdered or decocted form, especially identifying related species such as water buffalo horn, yak horn, and cattle horn. In this work, mathematics set and label-free proteomics analysis were combined for discovering keratin-derived specific peptide biomarkers. By using mathematics set analysis after nano liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry-based proteomics, the selected species-specific peptides could be used to identify the authenticity of the Saiga antelope horn and goat horn. Furthermore, peptide biomarkers were selected to distinguish related species-derived horns, water buffalo horn, yak horn, and cattle horn. In total, eight peptide biomarkers were selected and applied for simultaneously distinguishing different horn samples. The present strategy provides a method for peptide biomarkers discovery and also has positive significance for ensuring the quality and efficacy of animal horn-derived traditional Chinese medicines and their products.

The soil's rhizosphere is a highly active place where the exchange of substances and information occurs among plants, soils, and microorganisms. The microorganisms involved are crucial to the activities of plant growth and development, metabolism, and reproduction. Fritillaria L. medicinal plants are unique Chinese medicinal ingredients, but the continuous cropping obstacles formed in the artificial planting process is severely harmful to the growth and development of these medicinal plants. In this review, we summarized the current species and distribution of Fritillaria L. in China, and analyzed the changes in microbial diversity (mainly among bacteria and fungi) in the rhizosphere of these plants under long-term continuous cropping. The fungi showed an increasing trend in the soil rhizosphere, resulting in the transition of the soil from the high-fertility "bacterial type" to the low-fertility "fungal type" as planting years increased. Furthermore, the interaction between Fritillaria L. medicinal plants and the rhizosphere microorganisms was reviewed, and promising applications for the rhizosphere microbiome in the cultivation of Fritillaria L. medicinal plants were suggested. It is expected that this review will facilitate the in-depth understanding of rhizosphere microorganisms in the growth, accumulation of active ingredients, and disease control of Fritillaria L.

Genome variation not only plays an important role in plant phenotypic modeling and adaptive evolution, but also enhances population genetic diversity and regulates gene expression. The tea tree (Camellia sinensis) has a large genome (~ 3.0 Gb), making the identification of genome-wide variants time-consuming and expensive. With the continuous publication of a large number of different types of population sequencing data, there is a lack of an open platform to integrate these data and identify variants in the tea plant genome.To integrate the genetic variation confidence in the tea plant population genome, 238 whole-genome resequencing, 213 transcriptome sequencing, and 96 hybrid F1 individuals with a total of more than 20 Tb were collected for mutation site identification. Based on these variations information, we constructed the first tea tree variation web service database TeaPVs ( http://47.106.184.91:8025/ and http://liushang.top:8025/ ). It supports users to search all SNP, Indel, SV mutations and SSR/Polymorphic SSR sequences by location or gene ID. Furthermore, the website also provides the functions of gene expression search of different transcriptome, sequence blast, sequence extraction of CDS and mutation loci, etc.The features of the TeaPVs database make it a comprehensive tea plant genetic variation bioinformatics platform for researchers, and will also be helpful for revealing new functional mutations in the tea plant genome and molecular marker-assisted breeding.

To understand zooplankton community changes in the context of climate change and anthropogenic disturbances, we analyzed mesozooplankton samples from four seasons in the subtropical Daya Bay, which is susceptible to perceived disturbances in the South China Sea. The zooplankton community was found to be divided into two clusters, namely the Outer-bay Cluster (OC) comprising Noctiluca scintillans, Temora turbinata, and Paracalanus spp., and the Inner-bay Cluster (IC) which was dominated by Pseudevadne tergestina, Oikopleura rufescens, and Paracalanus spp. The OC was recorded in waters with low Chl a concentrations and high salinity, coinciding with open seawater intrusion. The IC occurred in waters with high Chl a concentrations, low salinity, with terrestrial inputs from the Dan'ao River. The dominant cladoceran species has changed in spring from Penilia avirostris to Pseudevadne tergestina owing to suitable temperature conditions and the low wind speed in this region. Most of the keystone species recorded during all seasons were found to be copepods based on co-occurrence network analysis. Numbers of keystone jellyfish (cnidaria) species, such as Geryonia proboscidalis, Chelophyes contorta, and Aeginura grimaldi were significantly higher in summer than in other seasons due to a low-temperature seawater intrusion, which can result in the highest stability of community structures and affect coastal food webs and fishery resources. Our results highlight that zooplankton community succession may occur with long-term temperature changes in the subtropical Daya Bay under global climate change conditions.

ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: Fufang Zhenzhu Tiaozhi (FTZ) is a traditional Chinese herbal prescription that has been used to treat dyslipidemia, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, atherosclerosis, diabetes and its complications in the clinic for almost ten years. Endothelial-mesenchymal transition (EndMT) is the key driver of atherosclerosis. However, the effects of FTZ on endothelial dysfunction and EndMT remain unknown. AIM OF THE STUDY: To evaluate the therapeutic effects of FTZ against EndMT and the underlying mechanisms. MATERIALS AND METHODS: An in vivo model of atherosclerosis was established by feeding ApoE-/- mice with a high-fat diet (HFD). The body weight, lipid levels, plaque area, lipid deposition and EndMT were evaluated using standard assays 12 weeks after intragastric administration of FTZ and simvastatin. Human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) were treated with oxidized low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL) to simulate EndMT in vitro. The degree of EndMT was assessed after treating the cells with FTZ or transfection with si-Akt1. The expression levels of genes involved in EndMT were quantified by real-time PCR or western blotting. RESULTS: FTZ ameliorated dyslipidemia and endothelial dysfunction in the atherosclerotic mice. In addition, FTZ reduced body weight and the total cholesterol, triglycerides and low-density lipoprotein levels, and increased that of high-density lipoproteins. FTZ also upregulated the expression of endothelial markers (CD31 and VE-cadherin) and decreased that of mesenchymal markers (ɑ-SMA and FSP1), indicating that it inhibits EndMT. Knocking down Akt1 exacerbated EndMT and reversed the therapeutic effect of FTZ. CONCLUSION: FTZ delayed atherosclerosis by inhibiting EndMT via the Akt1/ß-catenin pathway.

Vast amounts of plastic materials are produced in the modern world and despite recycling efforts, large amounts are disposed in water systems and landfills. Under these storage conditions, physical weathering and photochemical processes break down these materials into smaller particles of the micro- and nano-scale. In addition, ecosystems can be contaminated with plastic particles which are manufactured in these size ranges for commercial purposes. Independent of source, microplastics are abundant in the environment and have found their way into water supplies and the food cycle where human exposure is inevitable. Nevertheless, the health consequences of microplastic ingestion, inhalation, or absorption are largely unknown. In this study we sought to determine if ingestion of microplastics promoted pre-clinical cardiovascular disease (CVD). To do this, we supplied mice with normal drinking water or that supplemented with polystyrene beads of two different sizes (0.5 µm and 5 µm) and two different doses (0.1 µg/ml and 1 µg/ml) each for 12 weeks and measured several indices of metabolism and glucose homeostasis. As early as 3 weeks of consumption, we observed an accelerated weight gain with a corresponding increase in body fat for some exposure groups versus the control mice. Some exposure groups demonstrated increased levels of fasting plasma glucose. Those mice consuming the smaller sized beads (0.5 µm) at the higher dose (1 µg/ml), had increased levels of fasting plasma insulin and higher homeostatic model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) scores as well. This was accompanied by changes in the gut microbiome consistent with an obese phenotype. Using samples of perivascular adipose tissue collected from the same group, we observed changes in gene expression consistent with increased adipogenesis. These results suggest that ingestion of polystyrene beads promotes a cardiometabolic disease phenotype and thus may be an unrecognized risk factor for CVD.

OBJECTIVES: Overproduction of reactive species, notably reactive oxygen (ROS) and nitrogen (RNS) species, along with the failure of balancing effects of endogenous antioxidant defenses result in destruction of cellular structures, lipids, proteins, and genetic material, which lead to oxidative stress. Oxidative stress-induced neuronal apoptosis plays a pivotal role in pathogenesis of neurodegeneration. Antioxidants represent one of the medical choice strategies for protecting against this unbalanced oxidation-antioxidation status. Recently, natural compounds with neuroprotective potential that can scavenge free radicals and protect cells from oxidative damage have received extensive attention. METHODS: In this review, we summarized the detailed research progress on the medicinal plants-derived natural compounds with potential anti-oxidation effects and their molecular mechanisms on modulating the neurotoxin (6-OHDA, H2O2, glutamate, Aß)-induced oxidative stress and cell apoptosis. RESULTS: The natural compounds that efficacious in modulating reactive species production and mitochondrial function include flavonoids, glucosides, alkaloids, polyphenols, lignans, coumarins, terpenoids, quinones and others. They decreased the neurotoxin-induced oxidative damage and apoptosis by (1) decreasing ROS/RNS generation, lipid peroxidation, caspase-3 and caspase-9 activities, LDH release, the ratio of Bax/Bcl-2, Ca2+ influx and cytochrome c release, (2) elevating MMP, and (3) restoring endogenous antioxidant enzymatic activities (CAT, GSH-Px, GSR, SOD). And they exerted neuroprotective effects against cell damages and apoptosis by modulating the oxidative cascades of different signaling pathways (Nrf2/HO-1, NF-κB, MAPKs, PI3K/Akt, GSK-3ß) and preventing mitochondria-dependent apoptosis pathways. DISCUSSION: The present work reviews the role of oxidative stress in neurodegeneration, highlighting the potential anti-oxidation effects of natural compounds as a promising approach to develop innovative neuroprotective strategy.

Envy is a mixed negative emotion that is characterized by feelings of hostility, inferiority, resentment, and depression. It has been found that mindfulness is negatively associated with envy. This paper aimed to explore the interaction between mindfulness and envy by referring to the mindful emotion regulation model, and it also examines the mediation of emotional intelligence. Six hundred and seventy-six participants (182 men and 494 women) completed the Mindful Attention Awareness Scale, the Dispositional Envy Scale, and the Wong Law Emotional Intelligence Scale. Results suggest that mindfulness is significantly and negatively correlated with envy. Meanwhile, a multiple mediation analysis indicated that regulation of emotion and use of emotion partially mediate the impact of mindfulness on envy. The current study not only provides a theoretical basis for possible mechanisms underlying the inhibition of envy, but also provides valuable guidance for developing mindfulness-based intervention programs aiming at reducing the negative effects of envy.

Compelling evidences suggest that transplantation of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs) can be therapeutically effective for central nervous system (CNS) injuries and neurodegenerative diseases. The therapeutic effect of BM-MSCs mainly attributes to their differentiation into neuron-like cells which replace injured and degenerative neurons. Importantly, the neurotrophic factors released from BM-MSCs can also rescue injured and degenerative neurons, which plays a biologically pivotal role in enhancing neuroregeneration and neurological functional recovery. Tetramethylpyrazine (TMP), the main bioactive ingredient extracted from the traditional Chinese medicinal herb Chuanxiong, has been reported to promote the neuronal differentiation of BM-MSCs. This study aimed to investigate whether TMP regulates the release of neurotrophic factors from BM-MSCs. We examined the effect of TMP on brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) released from BM-MSCs and elucidated the underlying molecular mechanism. Our results demonstrated that TMP at concentrations of lower than 200 µM increased the release of BDNF in a dose-dependent manner. Furthermore, the effect of TMP on increasing the release of BDNF from BM-MSCs was blocked by inhibiting the phosphatidylinositol-4,5-bisphosphate 3-kinase (PI3K)/protein kinase B (AKT)/cAMP-response element binding protein (CREB) pathway. Therefore, we concluded that TMP could induce the release of BDNF from BM-MSCs through activation of the PI3K/AKT/CREB pathway, leading to the formation of neuroprotective and proneurogenic microenvironment. These findings suggest that TMP possesses novel therapeutic potential to promote neuroprotection and neurogenesis through improving the neurotrophic ability of BM-MSCs, which provides a promising nutritional prevention and treatment strategy for CNS injuries and neurodegenerative diseases via the transplantation of TMP-treated BM-MSCs.

OBJECTIVE: Exploring whether the genioglossus discharge in chronic intermittent hypoxia(CIH) - pretreated rats could be enhanced by intermittent electrical stimulation combined with acute intermittent hypoxia(AIH). METHODS: Rats were pretreated with CIH for 4 weeks and then were randomly divided into 6 groups: time control, intermittent electric stimulation, AIH, intermittent electric stimulation + AIH, continuous electric stimulation and continuous hypoxia exposure. The genioglossus discharges were recorded and compared before and after stimulation. Normoxic-treated rats were grouped and treated with the same stimulation protocols. RESULTS: Intermittent electrical stimulation or AIH temporarily increased the activity of the genioglossus discharge, in which the degree of the increase was significantly higher in CIH-pretreated rats than in normoxic rats.After intermittent electrical stimulation, AIH evoked a sustained elevation of genioglossus discharge activities in CIH-pretreated rats, in which the degree of the increase was significantly higher than in rats induced by a single intermittent electric stimulation. CONCLUSION: Intermittent electrical stimulation combined with AIH strengthens the genioglossus plasticity in CIH-pretreated rats.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the effect of Musk Tongxin Dropping Pill (MTDP) on myocardial remodeling and microcirculation dysfunction in diabetic cardiomyopathy (DCM). METHODS: Forty male SD rats were randomly divided into control group (control group, n = 10), DCM model group (DCM group, n = 10), DCM model + pioglitazone group (DCM + PLZ group, n = 10), and DCM model + MTDP group (DCM + MTDP group, n = 10). An intraperitoneal single injection of 65 mg/kg streptozotocin (STZ) was used to establish rat model of DCM and the rats in control group were treated with the same dose of sodium citrate buffer solution. DCM + PLZ group was treated with 3 mg/kg/d PLZ by ig after modeling, DCM + MTDP group was treated with 22 mg/kg/d MTDP by ig, and DCM group was treated with 2 ml/kg/d sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC-Na) by ig. The general condition of rats was continuously observed. After intervening for 3 weeks, the random blood glucose of rats was detected by tail vein, and the echocardiography examination was performed. Blood specimens were collected from the abdominal aorta, serum nitric oxide (NO) and endothelin-1 (ET-1) were detected to estimate endothelial function, and tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α), interleukin 6 (IL-6), IL-1ß, malondialdehyde (MDA), and superoxide dismutase (SOD) were detected to observe the changes of inflammation and oxidative stress indexes. The heart mass index (HMI) was calculated through the ratio of heart mass (HM) to the corresponding body mass (BM). Myocardial pathological tissue staining was performed. RESULTS: Compared with control group, blood glucose in other three groups was higher. Left ventricular end systolic diameter (LVSD) and left ventricular end diastolic diameter (LVDD) in DCM group showed a significant increase, while left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and heart rate (HR) in this group displayed an obvious decrease (P < 0.01). BM and HM in DCM group exhibited a reduction, and HM/BM × 103 revealed an apparent increase (P < 0.01). The levels of serum NO and SOD were distinctly downregulated (P < 0.01), and the levels of ET-1, MDA, TNF-α, IL-1ß, and IL-6 were remarkably upregulated (P < 0.01). Compared with DCM group, a significant decrease was observed in LVSD and LVDD in DCM + MTDP group, while LVEF and HR obviously increased (P < 0.05). BM and HM indicated an apparent increase, but HM/BM ×103 reduced distinctly (P < 0.01). The levels of serum NO and SOD were markedly upregulated (P < 0.05), and the levels of ET-1, MDA, TNF-α, IL-1ß, and IL-6 were significantly downregulated (P < 0.05). HE staining showed that myocardial cells arranged neatly in the control group but not in the DCM group. The intercellular space between myocardial cells in DCM group increased, accompanied by damage of myocardial fibers and infiltration of inflammatory cells. Masson staining displayed an increase in interstitial collagen fibers in DCM group. Carstairs staining showed that microembolization occurred in the myocardium in DCM group, while in DCM + MTDP and DCM + PLZ groups the corresponding myocardial pathological changes were significantly improved. CONCLUSIONS: MTDP might show a positive effect on myocardial remodeling and microcirculation dysfunction in DCM rats.

To study the molecular mechanism of Mahuang Lianqiao Chixiaodou Decoction in the treatment of eczema by means of network pharmacology and molecular docking. First, the TCMSP database was used to excavate the active ingredient of each drug in Mahuang Lianqiao Chixiaodou Decoction and predict its target, and the Uniprot database was used to standardize the names of target proteins, in order to obtain the disease targets of eczema through GeneCards, OMIM, PharmGkb, DrugBank and other databases. And next, the potential targets on which drug targets and disease targets work together were selected to make a Venn diagram, the Cytoscape 3.6.1 software was used to screen out and construct the "active ingredient-core targets" network. STRING database was used to construct a protein-protein interaction(PPI) network, and the R language was used to perform GO enrichment analysis and KEGG pathway analysis. Finally, the molecular docking verification of main active ingredients and core targets of the drug was performed by AutoDock software. The study showed that 74 active ingredients and 103 targets of Mahuang Lianqiao Chixiaodou Decoction for the treatment of eczema were screened. The main active ingredients included quercetin, luteolin, wogonin, kaempferol, and the main targets included PTGS1, ESR1, PPARG, and MAPK3. In addition, eight key targets, including MAPK8, MAPK3, JUN, MAPK14, TP53, MAPK1, ESR1 and RELA, were calculated by PPI network. GO enrichment analysis involved 2 024 biological processes, 81 cell components, and 140 molecular functions. KEGG pathway enrichment analysis was performed to screen out 158 eczema-related pathways, which mainly acted on AGE-RAGE signaling pathway, IL-17 signaling pathway, virus-related pathways, and the results of molecular docking showed that the main active compounds could respectively bind to representative targets and exhibit a good affinity. The study proved that the treatment of eczema with Mahuang Lianqiao Chixiaodou Decoction involved multiple signaling pathways and biological processes, and the combination of main active ingredients(such as quercetin, luteolin, wogonin, kaempferol) and key targets(such as MAPK8, MAPK3, JUN, MAPK14, TP53, MAPK1, ESR1, RELA) may be one of the important mechanisms of action.

Phylogeography is a research hotspot in the field of the genetic diversity and core germplasm construction of endangered rare plants. Paris polyphylla var. yunnanensis is a rare plant species mainly distributed in China. Wild individuals have been overexploited for the last few decades because of increasing demand for such medicines. Therefore, it is great significance to study the phylogeography of P. poliphylla var. yunnanensis based on chloroplast gene trnL-trnF sequences. In this study, chloroplast genes trnL-trnF were used in the phylogeography analysis of 15 wild and 17 cultivated populations of P. polyphylla var. yunnanensis. This study revealed that based on the results of neutrality tests and mismatch analysis, the rapid expansion of wild population has not been detected in P. polyphylla var. yunnanensis. After aligning and sorting the obtained cpDNA sequences, a total of 15 haplotypes were detected in all 32 populations. One haplotype was unique to the wild population, and 5 haplotypes were unique to the cultivated population. It can be seen that the haplotype richness of cultivated population was higher than that of wild population. The wild populations of P. polyphylla var. yunnanensis were divided into two groups according to evolutionary relationship of haplotypes and distribution map of haplotypes. The haplotype of branch Ⅰ was mainly distributed in Guizhou, and the haplotype of branch Ⅱ was located in Yunnan and Huidong, Sichuan. Therefore, it's speculated that Guizhou and the west Yunnan region may be glacial refuge in the evolutionary history of wild populations of P. polyphylla var. yunnanensis, and in order to protect the wild resources more effectively, wild populations of P. polyphylla var. yunnanensis in these two areas should be included in the protection zone.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the protective effects of Shexiang Tongxin dropping pill (, STDP) in a rat model of coronary microcirculatory dysfunction (CMD). METHODS: Sprague-Dawley rats were allocated randomly into four groups: sham, CMD model, STDP, and nicorandil. After 4 weeks of treatment, CMD was induced by injection of sodium laurate (0.2 mL, 2 g/L) into the left ventricle while obstructing the ascending aorta. Rats in the sham group underwent an identical surgical procedure but were administered physiological (0.9% ) saline (0.2 mL). Twenty-four hours after surgery, blood samples were collected for biochemical analyses and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays. Heart tissues were removed for histopathology staining; apoptosis and inflammatory cytokines were examined by Western blotting. RESULTS: The STDP group had a lower level of creatine kinase-myocardial band, lactate dehydrogenase, and cardiac troponin-I than that in the CMD model group. Infiltration of inflammatory cells, myocardial ischaemia, and microthrombosis were relieved in the STDP group compared with CMD model group. Levels of endothelin-1, nuclear factor-kappa B, tumour necrosis factor-α, interleukin-6, interleukin-1ß, malondialdehyde, B-cell lymphoma (Bcl)-2-associated X protein, and caspase-3 were lower, and levels of nitric oxide, Bcl-2, and superoxide dismutase were higher, in the STDP group in comparison with the CMD model group. CONCLUSION: STDP pretreatment improved the CMD induced by sodium laurate via anti-inflammatory, anti-apoptosis, and anti-oxidant mechanisms.

Background: To investigate the efficacy and safety of hirudin plus aspirin therapy compared with warfarin in the secondary prevention of cardioembolic stroke due to nonvalvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF). Methods: Patients with cardioembolic stroke due to NVAF were prospectively enrolled from 18 collaborating hospitals from Dec 2011 to June 2015. Fourteen days after stroke onset, eligible patients were assigned to the hirudin plus aspirin group (natural hirudin prescribed as the traditional Chinese medicine Maixuekang capsule, 0.75 g, three times daily, combined with aspirin 100 mg, once daily) or the warfarin group (dose-adjusted warfarin targeting international normalized ratio (INR) 2-3, with an initial daily dose of 1.25 mg). Patients were followed up at 1, 2, 3, 6, 9, and 12 months after stroke onset. Time in therapeutic range (TTR) was calculated according to Rosendaal methodology to evaluate the quality of INR management in the warfarin group. The primary efficacy endpoint was the recurrence of stroke within 12 months after stroke onset. Safety was assessed as the occurrence of the composite event "intracranial hemorrhage and other bleeding events, death, and other serious adverse events". The Cox proportional hazard model and Kaplan-Meier curve were used to analyze the efficacy and safety events. Results: A total of 221 patients entered final analysis with 112 patients in the hirudin plus aspirin group and 109 in the warfarin group. Over the whole duration of our study, TTR for patients taking warfarin was 66.5 % ± 21.5%. A significant difference was not observed in the recurrence of stroke between the two groups (3.57% vs. 2.75%; P = 0.728). The occurrence of safety events was significantly lower in the hirudin plus aspirin group (2.68% vs.10.09%; P = 0.024). The risk for efficacy event was similar between the two groups (hazard ratio (HR), 1.30; 95% confidence interval (CI), 0.29-5.80). The safety risk was significantly lower in the hirudin plus aspirin group (HR, 0.27; 95% CI, 0.07-0.95). Kaplan-Meier analysis revealed significant difference in the temporal distribution in safety events (P = 0.023) but not in stroke recurrence (P = 0.726). Conclusion: Significant difference in efficacy was not detected between warfarin group and hirudin plus aspirin group. Compared with warfarin, hirudin plus aspirin therapy had lower safety risk in the secondary prevention of cardioembolic stroke due to NVAF.
